Signs It's Time to Call a Roofer

1. Shingles are missing, cracked, or curling
If you notice shingles missing after a storm, or you see them cracking or curling up at the edges, that’s a clear sign your roof needs attention. Damaged shingles can’t protect your home the way they’re supposed to, which means water can start sneaking in underneath.
2. You find shingle granules in your gutters
Those little granules on your shingles aren’t just for looks; they protect your roof from sun damage. If you start noticing a lot of them collecting in your gutters or at the bottom of your downspouts, it usually means your shingles are wearing down and losing their protection.
3. There are water stains on your ceiling or walls
Water stains inside your home are one of the clearest signs of a roof leak. Even a small stain can mean water has been getting in for a while, so it’s worth getting checked out before it spreads or causes more damage.
4. Your roof is sagging
A roof should always look flat and even. If you notice any part of it sagging or dipping, that’s a serious sign, since it could mean there’s water damage or structural problems underneath. This is one you shouldn’t wait on.
5.Your roof is getting up there in age
Most asphalt shingle roofs last around 20 to 30 years. If your roof is getting close to that age, it’s a good idea to get it inspected, even if it looks okay on the surface, since age-related wear isn’t always visible from the ground.
6.Your energy bills have gone up
If your heating or cooling bills have been climbing without any other obvious explanation, your roof could be part of the problem. Damaged or aging roofs can let air leak in and out, making it harder for your home to stay at a comfortable temperature.
7. You can see daylight through your attic boards
If you go up into your attic and notice light coming through anywhere, or you feel a draft, that means there are gaps or damage in your roof that need to be fixed.
